With only one electric stove, it was difficult to meet demand, and Joanna (a chef) and Su Xi (an accountant) decided to open a New Zealand Indian restaurant. After receiving training at a family friend's restaurant in Australia, Sukhi returned home in 1991 and opened Little India.
