Despite the death of George Wittens in 1988, his grandson, Joel Wetz, president of Wittens Goldland and PGA professional, and Wisconsin PGA president, continues to run the company today. In 1955, George Wittens envisioned developing a multifaceted, affordable day and night home golf environment in Madison. In its first few years of operation, Vitense already has a large double-decker golf course, two 18-hole miniature golf courses, and a 9-hole par 3 golf course.
