Kee Wah Bakery was originally established in Hong Kong in 1938. The company is well-known in Hong Kong and overseas for its signature products - wedding cakes and moon cakes - as well as Chinese and Western delicacies. In 1985, due to the increasing number of immigrants and the demands of the Chinese American community they patronized, the company decided to go one step further in marketing and opened its first subsidiary in Southern California, Angeles, in Monterey Park, Los Angeles. It was called Kee Wah Corporation aka Kee Wah Bakery. The business baton has been passed on to the second and third generations of the family.
