Milan, expanded their stores beyond their original size, adding extra space in the same location. When A.H. Milan died in 1938, J.H. Milan became the sole owner of Milan Tobacconists again, now assisted by his young sons who work after school and on weekends. Three of Milan’s six sons grew up in the family business. In 1956, after 44 years of continuous operation, the store moved into a new 2,400-square-foot building on Jefferson Street, where it remained for more than 50 years.
